Sky tv - how does the SD broadcast compare to freeview

I am thinking of having sky hd installed because of the good offers at the moment but was just wondering how good the SD pictures were compared to freeview?

Just done same upgrade and the quality of the hd channels over the standard sky/freeview was amazing.Down side to it there isn't enough hd channels.I would also consider the SD picture to be slightly better than freeview on my setup.

I find the SD channels are better on SkyHD over my TV's freeview. Make sure to set your HD box's video output to AUTO as the scallers in your TV will do a better job upscaling SD over the ones in the HD box.

Would be going through an Onkyo 876 so will leave that to do all the upscaling - decisions - was thinking of getting freesat but sky is about at the level i'd pay for it now - especially since can sell my toppy 8510 with this upgrade and reclaime some cash that way
