maxflinn:ricardo65:maxflinn:sky could easily afford to drop their prices , they are making billions every year , why the sky worship ? i just dont get it ? if they had their way then all sports , movies , kids programmes , news etc would be shown soley on their channels , whether people could afford to pay for them or not , sky are ruthless , see them for what they are , pay for it if you want , but dont defend them ....
But what choice do we have here in Ireland? I dropped UPC because their HD network is painfully behind schedule and they couldn't even give me a rough idea when it would be available, and I'm 20 minutes outside Dublin city !!! There is no other realistic competition for SKY here in Ireland so it's a case of pay up or shut up unfortunately !!!i guess it depends what you need , i have freesat , and im happy with that , sure id love to watch the odd premier league match on a sunday , but apart from that theres nothing sky have that i would want to pay for , each to his own though ..
Currently I would mostly agree with you (swap test match cricket for football), but sky now have exclusivity on all of the HBO output and are apparently trying to do the same for Showtime. Quality US drama like the Sopranos, Mad Men and SIx Feet Under as well as the new Scorcese mafia dram awill in the future only be available on subscription. However much I dislike the Murdochs, I don't blame them for trying to get everything worth watching behind their pay wall - it makes them more profit, but I am not at all happy about it.
