sky hd upscaling

Hi, i am a virgin media customer but thinking about switching to sky, but have a couple of questions.

Does the sky hd box upscale sd content and does the hdmi carry the dolby signal or will a optical cable be needed?

Sky+HD boxes can indeed upscale SD content, however you're better off letting an A/V amp (if you have one) or your TV do the upscaling as Sky+HD boxes upscalers are poor!!!

You need to use an optical/coaxial digital cable - Sky boxes can only output stereo over HDMI

It can do but it's not very good at it.

Optical cable needed.

thanks, i have a onkyo 606, not sure if it can upscale from a hdmi signal or just analogue

I'm pretty sure the 606 does upscale, but even if it doesn't your TV will, and most likely do a better job than the Sky box...
