Lost Sky HD box signal tonight.....on investigation the wire from the dish had come out of the connection at rear of the box. The screw in connector was still in place but the actual wire had come loose and pulled back through the connection. Is it worth calling Sky out or do I just need a crimping tool of some sort to fix it??

there normally screw on connectors, by that i mean they screw onto the cable, not the threaded part that screws onto the stb.

if the connector is still attached to the stb, unscrew it, then get the cable make sure the copper braid is splayed back on itself if that makes sense, making sure that none of the braid is in contact with the central core then just screw it back on to the cable. you could call sky but why go without sky for a few days, it really is that simple

Yeah the wire has just completely pulled back from the screw in connector. I've shoved it back in and it's working but not sure how secure it is. Do I need to buy a crimper to make a better connection?

as i said they're normally screw on type connector's, you cant crimp them it damages them. just follow the steps above and should be ok.

if it is a crimp on type, try and give it a squeeze with some pliers to tighten it up. it is n't really worth going out buying the proper crimper for just one connector
