I currently have two Sky HD boxes on multiroom which are fed from the dish by a quad LNB ,twocables for each TV to seperate rooms in the house. I now however want to run another TV off HD, how is this done please?

Do I need another HD box? if so do I need another dish or is there bigger capacity LNB's?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

well you can get octo lnb's so 8 ports obviously!

you could get a third box, but will cost you the price of the extra box+ extra £10 multiroom subs+ extra £10 hd subs each month

do you want to be able to watch channels independantly on 2 of the tv's or same channels?

do you have a home cinema system with zone 2 capability?

Thanks Dave,

I currently have a Sony strda 1200es which doesn't give zone 2 capability but looking to upgrade to possibly the 3400 which I believe does.

As long as I have 2 of the 3 which can I watch independantly then the house would be happy

Where does that leave me please..

well. if you do upgrade your hc set to one that does have zone 2 cabability, you would be able to run the third set via hdmi from the amp's zone 2 out, but obviously you would only be able to watch the same sky channels on both sets,

or if you have one of the older sky hd boxes with component out, you would be able to run component cable to the third tv from the sky box, but as above you will only be able to watch the same channels on both sets at the same time.

or failing that, if your hd box doesn't have component out, you could get a 2way hdmi splitter and run from that to the third set.

It's sounds like I will be upgrading the amp for zone 2 then, the distance between both sets could be covered by a 15m HDMI .

Would there be a drop in PQ and would I have to change sky HD channels from the other room where the HD box is?

there shouldn't be a noticable drop in pq as long as you get a good quality hdmi lead, although a handful of people on the forums have had issues with some 15m hdmi's, but i'd suggest that you test it out between your sky box and the tv in that location first b4 goiing to all the hassle of running it to your third tv and all that may entail.

as for changing channels, you've got a couple of options i can think of,

1. get an rf/remote extender like this for example

2.along with the hdmi cable also run a coaxial aerial cable from the rf out 2 of the sky box to the third set, and get a magic eye like this for example

Thanks Dave for that.

Yes the running of the cables will be a mare but hey if a job is worth doing ...

Furthermore, I expect to be spending approx 3.5k with a 46/50" tv an amp and speaker package. I obviously want to make sure picture and sound quality is the best I can get, with that being said which of the two options that you have suggested would you go for?

well if it was me,id probably go for the amp upgrade with zone 2 out to feed the third set via hdmi and also run the coaxial aerial with magic eye to control channel changing

tell me about it... my ht system after months of deliberation and demoing is still very much of a work in progress.

the only thing i know for sure is what screen and speaker package i'm getting/got. the choice of amps is down to 2 possibly 3, bd player down to 2 but dependent on which amp i go for and not even thought about cables yet.

will let you know how the mini rebuild goes, but that's gonna be a long project.got months of welding to do then of course i gotta choose wihch colour to paint it before i can even begin on building it back up!
