sky hd and denon avr2310

Hi

I am getting sky HD installed next week and was wondering what is the best way to connect it to my system. I have heard that there are some issues connecting via hdmi to the Denon but as you can only get dolby 5.1 through an optical cable from Sky, would i be as well sending the picture direct to the TV via hdmi and sending the sound to the amp via optical?

Any help appreciated

My Denon 2310 and Sky HD linked up just fine. Optical from Sky box to amp and HDMI from amp to TV. Easy

are you also connecting the sky box to the amp via hdmi or direct to the tv?

Just hook up everything directly to the amp via HDMI (ie Blu-Ray player, Sky, Games Console....) then run one HDMI from amp to TV

It works fine when the amp is switched on (via HDMI and Coax) but I don't get any sound when the amp is on standby (with the pass through switched on)
