Sky box optical out volume issues.

It seems very quiet and i need to crank the volume to get some. No setting on the Sky box.

Is this normal?

I find the volume level changes between channels - within SD / within HD / between SD and HD / Olympic channels are very low as well (450+).

Yep, some channels are loud enough, others quiet.

Typically of sky's poor kit. Always fun having to ramp up best part of 500W amplication just to get a decent sound level !

Not defending Sky or otherwise but my volume is generally fine on all channels. Sky HD/1GB - wonder if others have same issue?

No, I've never had any issues with low volume on Sky optical, I barely turn my amp up for normal TV watching.

Not sure of 'scale', but I have to operate between 30 and 45 sound level on my Onkyo, depending on channel. Perhaps something is 'broken' along the way. As such, I'll use the Naim for a week or so, and see if the same difference.
