Max, generally I like you, so I hope you'll accept my comments in the spirit they're intended, as friendly advice but right now you're making yourself look not a little pathetic. It's a tv, that's all, get over it.

no i haven't, but who can see one side by side clare ?? but you do make statements about panasonic and neglect issues on sony's other sites pick up.

are you saying your reviews are 100% spot on and other sites reviews are flawed. i think like max has pointed out many tv's gain 5 stars

but there is only one group winner. whether your right or not, compared to other sites, and as a neutral, it does seem like you have all gone over to LCD and now plasma has no place.

The panasonic is a great tv, new to the market, with great 3d (i have seen) and cannot fathom why it did not get 5 stars, and please please dont say because the sony is that great, please, that one is old hat !

The 2D viewing on this TV is amazing, the best pictures I have seen on a TV period. Better than any other LCD and Plasma I have watched. Skin tones, Blacks, Detail, and motion were all superb

The 3D is just a bonus, its a bit gimicky but because plasma's have better response times I think plasma's is the way to go with 3D, though its not as bright or dynamic as the Sony (which would look more appealing)

Plus the overall picture quality is better on the Pana compared to the Sony (40HX703, 46HX903) in my opinion, and yes I have done a side by side comparison, with HD, DVD Bluray etc

No. The stars are awarded by WHFS&V on the basis of their testing and so reflect the informed opinion of the reviewing team. If they feel it to be a 4 star set, then it is their perogative to award 4 stars.

Max - a review is just another opinion. These TVs have got so good now that rather than being down to absolutes we are largely dealing with preferences. I'm seriously looking at hi-fi kit at present that has only been awarded 3 stars. So far I like what I hear very much and the 3-star review's relevance is fading quickly. That is ultimately all that matters.

Absolutely - i've got/had many products over the years that's not five stars, but it was what suits/suited me/my tastes best.

If a product is brilliant for you, it's your own personal five-star product!

I've said it many, many times, but it bears repeating. We test products comparatively and come to a team decision on star ratings. We then tell you what our opinion is - but until you see/hear the products yourselves (not just read reviews elsewhere, most of which are the opinion of a lone reviewer, not a team), you won't know if you share our opinion.

Obviously, everyone is free to disagree with our ratings, but they are ones formed from nothing else than spending a heck of a lot of time comparing, tweaking, watching and listening to products.

Yes

and you guys have potentially made it really difficult for yourselves in the future as everyone is watching for future inconsistancy (e.g. in group tests where 3 sets get 5 stars)

Max, this now three days you've been going on about this, not including all the hype you built up before this test was published.

You may think you're being some kind of crusading saviour of truth, but by now you might be making yourself look just a little bit sad, don't you think...?

Couldn't agree more. Just debating whether to watch the last day of the airshow from the garden or walk over and stand amidst thousands of fanatics who make the most obsessive here seem insouciant by comparison.
