I can get the Pioneer for £300 from superfi http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/5446 which seems like a real steal to me but I am wondering if i will see or hear any differences.

I will be using a sony dh800 amp and mission m33i speaker package with a sub an am thinking that my current panny might just be a weak link in the chain i think i have the upgrade bug.

I know that i probabally wont see any difference on the blu ray side but for dvd playback and upscaling as most of my collection is on dvd would it make a marked diffefrence also but to a lesserextent occasional cd playback.

Many thanks

Tristian

You already have a more than capable blu-ray player.

And you need to ask yourself, will you see a £300.00 pound difference? Probably not.

I would spend that money on upgrading speakers, or maybe get an awsome subwoofer. or amp.

Agree Canada16, I was in a similar position to you born2die, but chose not to upgrade my disc player, instead put my money towards new front speakers (center included).

I would not have got much if any of an improvement in picture quality (Pana Bd35), but the difference in sound with my new fronts is night and day. Slightly unbalanced sound for the moment though, need to upgrade rears.

I have a BD60 and an LX52 sitting in my room at the moment, but haven't had a chance to compare the two yet!

Now is just about a good time as any. Just play a couple of scenes from Avatar and let us know what you think.

What about Kung Fu Panda or Fantastic 4?

If you want a better DVD upscaler without breaking the bank, keep your BD60 & get this.

This is one of the best DVD upscalers around & is also excellent at CD playback (although not as good as a dedicated CD player).

Alternatively, upgrading your amp rather than speakers will give you superior DVD upscaling performance......btw, have you tried getting your Sony receiver to upscale DVDs....or for that matter, even your TV? Check them first before spending on a new player. You may just be surprised.
