Ive just purchased a NAD C326 amp and NAD C545 CD player, but dont have enough cash for speakers at the mo. Im wondering wether to save for some for something fairly decent (£300 max) or get the Tannoy F1 customs now? What do you reckon?

I vote for save£££ as I wanted the mezzo's and settled for the 902i's, although I am please with them I still long for the mezz. It all depends how long it will take u to save up and as menyioned before me - if you have any other speakers to tie u over.

I bought a pair of these last year, run them through Cambridge audio 540 Azur V2 and Adcom GFP power amp. I rate them for the price they cost, £83 if I remember correctly. Go for it.

buy the tannoys(or buy my 2nd hand m1s off ebay) and then sell them later when you want to upgrade.

cheers for the response guys. Im new to the hifi seperates game so dont have any speakers yet. Im in no rush, and judging by the response i think ill save for something that will complement the NADs. Im thinking maybe the Tannoys will be punching a bit above their weight, and i wont be getting the most out of the NADs?

Not sure about that. Depends on what music you like. B&W are great for bass but lacking in other areas in my opinion.

go 2nd hand for now and look for a good price on something, then when you have saved enough to upgrade you can sell them without making much (if any) loss. then you have your money back to put towards the upgrade. it seems pointless to leave your nice new kit sat in boxes while you wait to get speakers.

The B&Ws are a very good match for the cheaper NAD amps because, whilst they are more refined and have better quality bass than cheaper designs, they are very safely balanced. More revealing designs such as the MS Mezzo 2s or Dali Ikon 1s will show up the weaknesses in your amplification (which is extremely good but doesn't partner well with more expensive or more revealing kit).

However, I'd suggest trying some Dali Lektor 2s. IMO these are the best partners for the NAD because they are more exciting and open than the B&Ws and bring out the strengths of the amp.

Buy the tannoys and start enjoying your music, upgrade at a later date if you feel you need to, it would drive me nuts having new kit and being able to hear it, go get them today!
