I am currently the proud owner of a Pioneer 50" Kuro Plasma Screen, had it a couple of years and it's a great picture etc. Suddenly I see this Samsung 46" LED TV, showing the most detailed and crisp picture I've ever seen (it was an animated Blu Ray disc, but incredibly crisp). I am tempted, very tempted, but these showrooms never seem to show the rather average non HD stuff. I note from the What HiFi review of a simliar TV that the Samsung LED are still not as good as the Kuro screens. Having seen this picture I am not entirely sure....can anyone help me out here??

you answered your own question with " had it a couple of years and it's a great picture" . I bet you could replicate the picture you saw on the Samsung just by changing your screen picture to dynamic whist watching a Blu-ray animated disc. The other thing you can do is ask to see a non Blu-ray picture on the Samsung that should make your mind up. Keep an open mind is the Samsung really better than your pioneer or are you just falling for the marketing campaign i will admit the Samsung's do look the part and are quite seductive but better than a pioneer !!! pull the other one. I have both the 46" 7000 series and the LX5090. Not sure which gen Pio you have, but whilst I love the Samsung (and of course the Pio), you already have one of the best tvs made in the last couple of years and you'll only notice small incremental improvements in the Samsung in some aspects and some negatives in others. Either way if you don't need a tv for another room, I wouldn't bother replacing your Pioneer.

I am sure if you played the same disc through your pioneer you would find the picture at least just as good. It may have been that the blu-ray player and cables that were connected to the samsung were better than what you own?

But if you can afford it I would recommend getting your TV professionally ISF calibrated. And if you really want to push the boat out look into a separate video processor (but they aren't cheap).
