Hi,

I've just purchased the LE26C450 based on the review of WhatHifi this month to replace my old Sammy that was slowly dying. Could the reviewer or anyone with a THX disc recommend the best settings for this TV as I guess the default can be improved upon a lot.

Also, if anyone is interested, the set is very very good even on Analog Terrestrial (I've got Sky routed around the house). And with regards to the sound, it is also very good. I'm using it as a TV in the bedroom and the sound is plenty loud enough - this was a concern when I was reading some other people's reviews who said it wasn't very loud - either they've got a low sound input or they are expecting a surround sound experience from a small flatscreen tv - go figure?

Hi Jason,

Glad you're enjoying the Samsung - it's a cracking set, and one which we found doesn't need too much tweaking.

But going through the THX optimizer process doesn't take long and should improve things still further. Do you not have any DVDs with the THX software on? There's a full list here - many households are bound to have one.

Let us know how you get on or how we can help further.

Thanks Claire for pointing me in the right direction.

I nicked my DVD player from downstairs. I was getting a little concerned as I couldn't find the THX Optimiser on a few discs that I tried - Avatar, Aliens and then eventually found it on my little girls DVD - Brother Bear (of all the films!).

Contrast is at 100% (default)

Brightness at 36% (50% is default)

Sharpness at 50% (default)

Pretty straight forward.

I think the higher brightness setting was washing out the Blue of the Sky HD planner which made me originally think that the levels weren't quite right.

Thanks, Jason
