Samsung Galaxy Tab S BBC iPlayer

Hello all,

Got said tablet for my birthday at the weekend and it's excellent but one thing is missing and that's any BBC iPlayer in HD. On this resolution of screen any content is just horrendous in quality, the front end of the app and desktop are impressive and certainly HD but as soon as you go to stream anything or even download to the Tab S the quality is awful and worse than a standard SD stream through any of my TVs so I'm very disappointed and at a loss as to why this is the case.

Any ideas what is going on here? Seems like a massive oversight for there to be no HD content when I can get it on every other device at home. Would have been nice to watch it in bed with headphones on without disturbing the other half.

have you tried this?

I have indeed and it still isn't great, it's the default setting for downloads in the app. I'm now thinking it's just the beeb not supporting HD on portable devices although I could be wrong, it's annoying me though I have to admit.

As an alternative you could use get_iplayer to grab programmes in HD (720p) then transfer them (or stream them from NAS or PC etc ) to your tablet

How would I go about streaming to the tab from my nas drive and where do I get get_iplayer from? Thank you
