Samsung Galaxy SIII or wait for iPhone 5?

For what it's worth, I used to have an iPhone 3GS (2 in fact as one lasted barely a year before it became faulty) but moved to a Galaxy S2. I have never looked back! Yes there's a difference and Android is not quite as slick as iOS but having to connect to iTunes, only having one battery, no Flash support, no HDMI output for EVERYTHING on your phone, not being able to swap memory cards...I mean, apart from the design and the quality of some apps, why would anyone choose any iPhone over an S2 or S3?

I went with Apple initially as Android was in its infancy really and the Apple marketing is soooo good. I'd still recommend an iPhone to my mum or girlfriend, but for anyone who is into technology and doesn't hold a TV remote control the wrong way round I would look at the Samsung.

I guess you pays your money though....

Thanks for that, next time I can't figure out which way to point my remote can I ask you for help?

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

It just comes down to what you would like the phone to do.

While the iphone 5 is not released yet we have already had the anouncement for the operating system, so we know what functionality it will have.

Just cross reference it with the S3 or One X and you'll have some idea from a functionality point of view.

In terms of the hardware both are / will be good. we'll have to wait to know which is better, although I think we can safely say the following:

1) The iphone 5 will sound better as the 4S still sounds better than my s3 and the one x.

2) The iphone 5 will have a smaller screen than the one x / s3. Whether this is good or bad will be personal preference.

I have sweated over this decision too and ended up with the s3. I've been very happy with it so far. The iphone 5 will have to be a significant improvement for me to give it up.

Tesco are doing a HTC One X for £21.50 a month (free phone) - 100 mins, unlimited texts, and 500MB.

O2 suits me, as they're my broadband provider and they discount bb if I'm a mobile customer.

The same deal can be done with an iPhone 4s 16Gb if I buy the phone for £200.

My current phone is failing, but not quite at replacement level (yet...!)

I have to laugh when I see this. The HOX is FREE on this tarrif with its leading edge quad-core 1.5Ghz and 4.7' 720p screen while some (a lot it seems) people are still happy to pay an EXTRA £200 for out of date Apple hardware - in the 4gs case an 800Mhz dualcore and tiny screen.

That Apple reality distortion field is still alive and kicking!

...as are your usual rather predictable responses.

Well Paul, I was actually talking about My Mum and My girlfriend (do you know them?) but if you need any help then, yeah, sure. :)

I prefer the design of the S2 (S3 looks good too). The iPhone 4 and 4S is too bulky in a trouser pocket for me and I like to be able to hold my phone in any way I want but if you like Apple kit then that's fine by me.
