Due to the "rules" of Record Store Day, purchases can only be in store, although stores can start advertising them online after about two weeks. Also, pre-orders can't be taken. Unless rules haven't changed for this year...
Nope, it's still the same. (I've been helping our local shop (not 'store'!) get ready for it this year, so I've seen the rules. They've even been tightened up so that shops such as Norman Records, which is mostly online though with a small physical shop, can't take part until a week later. Your best best (unless you have a willing friend who'll be free on the day) might be to try Norman on the Saturday following RSD to see if they've managed to get hold of copies.
One thing you can do, if you have a shop convenient for you, is to tell them that you really want particular items so that they can order extra copies. They can't put them aside for you until after RSD itself, but it will give you a better chance of there being a copy available after the day.
I just can't get excited about this RSD malarkey. I'll buy the Anna Calvi live LP if there are any copies left after the mayhem, and possibly the Steve Reich LP, but most of the releases are coloured or otherwise gimmicky versions of things already released.
