Cheers Doug, I'll keep that in mind when I finally get around to ripping, EAC, etc, etc.

It's a trendy way of saying that you're going to make a concerted effort John.
One of those things intended to make people sound a bit more clever and interesting.

Instead of simply saying that something went wrong, for example, the same people would say that it went "pear shaped".....,or "that was when the wheels came off".

I call them trendy sheep - they hear someone say it, so they repeat it, because they think it makes them sound superior.
They start sentences with the word "so" and call the Atlantic ocean a pond.

Just as well I was never in a job where anyone told me to "take the ball and run with it" or "think outside the box" - my response certainly wouldn't have been clever - but they would have understood it.

Back to the subject of hotel prices that was brought up a few weeks ago. My 3 kids are going to comicon in Liverpool next year. The week before the event and after the event travel lodge prices £250 the weekend of the event £500. Every hotel they have looked at has doubled their price for that weekend. My daughter thought she had found a hotel online yesterday that hadn't raised its prices, there is a catch though, for that weekend you can't just book one night it has to be a minimum of two. I hate the greed of hotels etc when there is an event on.

Another thing I'd like to put in room 101 working today. In Monday and Tuesday off Christmas and Boxing day and in today. We have one delivery from Hotpoint, nothing going out and I can't imagine any of our shops selling much today and needing anything from us in the warehouse.
The company will probably lose more money keeping shops and the warehouse open than they will make in sales today.

Ha ha, nice one Gray, thanks for that. I know exactly what you mean. "Guesstimation" is one that irritates me. What's wrong with guess, or estimation? Amongst other stupid made up words.

Thanks Gray, now I understand. "Guesstimation" is a word that irritates me. What was wrong with guess or estimation. The two words hardly needed to be joined just to sound clever or something.

Snowflake....

It's a Christian celebration supposedly, yet less than half the UK population is Christian, and I'd wager many that identify as such only do so when it's convenient (for weddings, funerals etc) so for most Brits its little more than corporations profiteering off tradition.

So I find it somewhat laughable that some choose to get upset at what others label it.

So if people don't celebrate anything at this time of year is a holiday even deserved. Keep them working I say..... 🙂
are you on holiday by any chance?
And I wasn't simply referring to the UK.
 
This forum!

It's bad enough that the website has become a hyperbolic, click-bait generator under Future's ownership.

But the forum (mostly the HiFi section) is slowly going the same way with pretentious, and hyperbolic 🐂💩 posted with increasing regularity

In any hobbyist forum, especially one like this where the cost of the hobby can be very high, there will always be an element of pretentiousness and hyperbolic twaddle.
