Please forgive me if this topic appears elsewhere and point me to it. I have searched and couldn't find a thread.

I am thinking of ripping all my CDs to a USB hard drive and then connecting to my amp (for audio output) and TV (for controllling interface). I obviously need some hardware to do this and would like to keep the budget down. Would something like the Western Digital TV Mini Media Player do the job (and have the added bonus of being able to play video files) or is there a better way? Your recommendations please.

Thanks

Why not spend a little more and the WDTV Live? It would mean that you could network the WDTV and, as and when you ripped new CDs, you could drop them onto the USB HDD over your network.

Thanks PJPro

I've just checked the price and at less than £100 it seems like a good idea. Do you have experience with this? I would probably rip to mp3 at 256 kbps, or better if my hard drive (haven't chosen one yet) is big enough - would the sound quality of the WDTV be good enough ?
