I've been tearing what little hair i have left about settling on a TV. I want a future proof 4k, HDR DV and 3D and have kind of settled on the LG 65UH950V. although it seems that the closest place to get a look at one is in Milton Keynes

Now i know that this TV is bottom edge lit and i see a number of forums where there are columns of light esp in black bars on movies. My concern is that i don't want to get into a p***ing match with the retailer if i think the bleed is too great so is there a level of acceptability that i can refer to if i need to return it?

i suspect a demo won't cut it if i can't play with the settings and a number of sources to see how it will perform. Also doesn't seem that John Lewis stock it even though it is listed as a retailer on the LG site.

Unfortunately the ambient light levels in store will be so high it will be very dificult to see any kind of bleeding etc. Untill you are in a dark room with the backlight dialed in how you want it you wont know. Luckily John Lewis are rather good with returns so if you hate it you can bring it back.

Richer Sounds are excellent as well, if John Lewis don't stock it. Speak to them and express your concerns. There is a 28-day return window (but you have to inform them of intention to return within 14 days).
Only on the internet buys will Richer Sounds accept returns.

Thanks for the replies, looks like JL don't stock it and RS will only stock if i purchase it. RS have been pretty good in my experience so might give them my business.

Gel, appreciate your input as you probably bought more TV's than the rest of us put together *mosking*

Again, costco are really good athough so many people were returning a perfrectly good TV after 2 years to get a refund and buy the latest that they changed the rules.

I need to see the TV in a real world setting with my sources and light to get an idea so might just bite the bullet, OLED is going to have to wait i think.

i'm after the 65' version but they price match so all should be well
They have removed it for over the phone purchase, at a guess they read this thread and then changed it - they do that!

Doesn't make sense to me, I'll call them and ask why not available to order online or over phone. Why would any stock item be treated any differently to another? I'm going to assume oversight but if not it's cost them a sale.

When I called them to ask about the Panasonic OLED TV 4 months ago, they did exactly the same then too. They want you to buy it Instore so they can charge you a fortune if you return it.

thing is, as consumer worried about the TV and wanting to trial it as can't see it anywhere then I need the distance selling regulations to protect my rights. Smells like sharp practice but will reserve judgement until I've spoken to them.

Even cheaper at currys now. Weird thing is that the TV does not appear in the list of TVs or in the search for LG products but found the page by looking for the model number
