The cable on my Shure E2C headphones has started to break up by both the left, and now the right, side ear buds, so am looking for something new. Have really liked these headphones, but am reluctant to get another Shure pair, as I don't want the same thing to happen again in another 1 1/2 years (has anyone else had this problem? )!

Can anyone recommend a suitable alternative in the sub-£100 price range??

Sub £100 pair, which won't cost you £100. go to amazon and get either the Klipsch custom 1 or custom 2.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/203-1068691-9207960?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=klipsch+custom+1&x=21&y=16

or you could try the super.fi 4

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/203-7030774-0979957?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=super.fi+4&x=17&y=28

these are the ones on my shopping list.

(i hope i'm allowed to leave links?)

How long have you had them? I have a set of E2Cs and I'm sure they came with a two year manufacturers warranty.

If you've had them for less than this I'd contact Shure and ask about getting them repaired or replaced under warranty.

I also had a pair of E2C and the wire came loose on the earphone. I opted for more Shure's but the SE210. £65 or so I paid for them, they seem to have more bass that the E2C's.

I also invested in some ear mould's made by a hearing aid laboritory, the bass was improved yet again.

Cheers
