You'll have to check out the VT30 yourself. Personally, I would go for the VT30.

..

We've got to be practical here. Yes, my Kuro has been the best TV for a long time. But when I saw the VT30, I think Panasonic has finally caught up. Ok, Panasonic's QC may not be as good as Pioneer Kuro.....hmmm....not sure now! :~
haven't seen a vt30 in the flesh yet bb, reviews are very good but i don't think if i had a krp-500 i'd be selling up for the pana unless 3d was very important.

perhaps next years top pana might just better the kuro? but shouldn't we be close to seeing affordable oled sets by then?

What a joke from the Insurance Company!!!

I have received a letter from them, today, offering me Panasonice TX-P50U30B which cost £586. Is this not a joke? This TV is not comparable to the Kuro at all both spec and quality wise.

I wounder the companies like this play a bluff in the begining just to see if customer accepts it? I think, I need to call them, or better email them as a proof? Please advice!

that's like offering somebody a ford fiesta after their ferrari was wrote off, a car is a car...

it is a joke, i'd be making them aware of the current prices of used kuros, and demand at least enough to buy one of them..

...also Kuro was a specified item in my Insurance (because of its price) which pushed up my insurance premium. Whats the point of specifying it! ...yeah I know am sounding like Sad, depressed and frustrated

Write to the insurance company saying you're not happy with the offer. Also let them know that you will approach The Financial Ombudsman if the issue isn't resolved to your satisfaction. Approach them if no joy.

Insurance company is ready to replace TV with Panasonic G30 but don't want to go for repair cost, I can understand their business point but certainly G30 is not same as my 9G Kuro, definitely not based on Quality Control and Picture Quality. I would try to convince them to repair my Kuro or replace it with Panasonic VT30

If they disagree then will go to The Financial Ombudsman, as adviced earlier.

It's now a month since you wrote your post, so you may have found something suitable by now. I do think that your insurance company is trying to pull a fast one. Your late Pioneer Kuro 5090, if you got a similar deal to what I arranged in September 2009, would have cost around £2,400, and at that time it was unquestionably the best 50 inch TV in the WORLD (apart from maybe the Kuro 500A). Try go get archive copies of reviews of the 5090, to show your insurance company how good the Pioneer 5090 was. From the group test of 50 inch TVs in the August 2001 issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, you will have seen that the absolute best TV was the Panasonic TXP50VT30. However, they did say that the Panasonic TXP50GT30 (NOT G30) was almost as good, and significantly cheaper. I saw the GT30 briefly in a shop two weeks ago, and, as a Pioneer owner, I have to say that I was very impressed with the GT30. Whether it is better than my Kuro 5090 I can't really say, but the GT30 is the MINIMUM that you should accept in replacement for your damaged Kuro, which used to be at the top of the tree. Your insurance policy should be replacing it with a similar top of the tree item, which strictly speaking would be the VT30, but the GT30 is very close. Incidentally, Richer Sounds currently list the GT30 at £1,300, but the VT30 is £2,100. That is a difference of £800!! The review said the price difference was £400 or £500, but it's even more than that. If I were spending my own money, I would get the Panasonic GT30. If your insurance company really won't pay for a Panasonic, you could try asking them for the LG50PZ950, which was well (4 stars) reviewed in Home Cinema Choice magazine number 196, July 2011.
