My Hi-Fi kit has been running quite nicely for a few years now but I recently had to take my Sony CDP-XE570 player in for repair. Having paid a non-refundable £50 inspection fee I am now told that an additional £53 is required to repair the fault.

I can see how the repair shop works as I've already committed half the money and it now seems easier to pay the rest. What do you think? - should I cut my losses and invest in another player? I can't find many XE570's for sale so cannot rationalise the £103 cost against anything.

There is a second hand buy it now CDP XE570 on ebay for £56 including delivery. I agree with Matthew, it is not worth it and that is a repair shop to be avoided.

Forget about any repairs - it's not worth the hassle or the money!

Perhaps this is an opportunity to try another player? Loads of cheap ones on E-Bay.
