Hi. I've just purchased an old Technics SU-V505 amp and want to remove the banana posts so I can attach unterminated wire. The unit originally came with twist and lock sockets which the previous owner then replaced. How do I go about removing them and would I need to find and fit another set of twist and lock sockets in order to attach unterminated speaker cable? I know you can attach banana plus to the end of cable yourself but I really don't want to go through the bother if necessary.

No? I'd have thought that screw-fit banana plugs (ie ones you don't have to solder) would be easier than what you propose (if I understand you correctly, you want to change the sockets at the back of your amp?).
