Rega RP6 with Ortofon 2M black

Is pairing an Ortofon 2M black with a Rega RP6, a waste of money? Would I hear the benefits of the black? Should I stick with my 2M bronze?

I'd rather put that £500 towards an RP8 and use the Bronze you already have.

I had a suspicion that the Black might be overkill for an RP6

It's not necessarily overkill, just that I would invest that money in the deck itself so you have a better base to work from.

David has a point there. Although the black is an 'improvement' on the bronze it is 'voiced' slightly different and you're probably better off upgrading the TT itself.

That's my opinion though, unless you're unhappy about the sound your bronze produces.

Thanks guys. The RP6 is just over a year old and replacing it is out of the question for quite some time.

I'm mostly happy with the RP6 and Bronze so I'll just replace the stylus with another Bronze when the time is right.
