I am getting >100 of wonderful classic music records (hardly ever used), hence looking for a turntable to be used with denon 2310 and ma rx8.

Not sure that I am ready to spend great deal (500 max, preferrably <300) on a turntable. What would be a reasonbly good for a newbie? Pro-ject, Rega?

many thanks for your advices!

I asked a similar Q with similar cash (OK a bit less) a few months back. I was pointed to a Rega over a Project, I think I remember the main reason people went for Rega was they said they had better build.

If your OK with getting a used turntable then a Rega 3 (I've just got one myself) goes for around £160 on ebay (from my checking over the last month or so, not sure what project's go for but I think they are usually around £100 I think.

Then u need a cart, if u don't get one with the TT, then u could just get a new stylus if it's a decent cart. I'm after a Audio Technica AT 440 MLA myself. I've heard the Goldring 1042 is good too however I'm new to the vinyl game so take I'd wait till the big time junkies get in on this before taking any of the above info seriously.

Good luck!

rega p2 or p3 would be the best bet

personally id go for the p3 with elys2 cartridge fitted which costs less that £500

cookiemonster, one off, thanks for your advice! seems that Rega will be on top of my list and I will have to decide whether to go for p2 or p3 and whether elys2 will be worth the investment...

will post here as the story develops
