Dear Andrew as said before i have a gale vetro ( http://www.richersounds.com/showbigproductpicture/GALE-VETROSTAND-SIL/301424.jpg )hi-fi rack glass shelfs steel frame 5 shelfs 4 of wich can hold 7.5kg the bottom one can hold more or less anything as it is twice as thick and has steel feet now the problem was that the power amps i waned to get were 11kg each but now i am having a look at the advance acustic stereo power amp 19kg each ( again planing to get 2 of them ) i dont want to get a new rack as i like the look of the one i got but i was thinking instead to have some shelf made ( more resistent steel maybe )i would only need one and i would have to be a exact replica of the glass shelf but i have no idea where to get it made so can u or anyone else advice on this matter thank as always .

Looking at that rack, I'd say the problems were twofold - one is the glass not holding the weight, and the other is the way the shelves are cantilevered out from the upright. I'm sure a metal fabricator could make you a suitable shelf to fit, but whether it or its mounting would be strong enough to hold a 19.5kg power amp I'd very much doubt.

i`ve placed both my cambridge audio unit ( 540 cd and 640 amp )on the top shelf they are 10kg aproximately and it holds perfectly so i dont see why a steel shelf mounted on a steel frame shuld not hold 19kg . i do see your point of how the shelfs are mounted on the frame seems a bit weak but at close up its all pretty solid and well made so could u advise me on who couls make such a shelf for me and where please Andrew thanks

p.s. the steel shelf would have to snap in half ( steel dosent snap in half it would bent ).so i could either bent or hold in worst case senarios i would have wasted a couple of quid .

Don't know of anyone who specialises in such a thing, but I'm sure your local yellow pages will turn up some metal fabricators who'd do the job, or you can find suppliers on the web or even ebay. After all, all you need is some thickish (6mm?) sheet cut to size, and with the edges finished off.
