Hi all, going to mod my beresford but since not skilled with soldering will stick with very popular choice.Just want to make sure if I`m buying right ones and suppose quantity needed is 2?

http://uk.farnell.com/national-semiconductor/lm4562na-nopb/op-amp-audio-dual-hf-8-dip-powerwise/dp/1685366

Also did anyone tried maplin psu( http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48517) or anything similar?

Regards

Just had my DacMagic modified with Burson OpAmps and few improved capacitors, the difference was well worth the £155 it cost me.

I sent mine to AudioUpgrades who supplied and fitted them for me. They also supply the parts for self install, I'd suggest you give Brent a ring at AudioUpgrades, he's very helpful.

Thats the ones. They are a very worthwhile upgrade.

If you want to try something a little more expensive you could try these LME49720HA, on paper they are very similar ops but so I have heard they offer an improvement over the LM4562NA.

Soldering has always worried me too but I have been considering the upgrades on the site above for the Beresford, check them out.

The Burson opamps are the big daddies but at £90 a pop they are not cheap and although they are compatible they will not fit in the beresfords casework.

I use the maplin PSU, it is also worthwhile for the cash, although Im not sure what difference its making to the TC-7520 because I have always used it, I had it with my 7510 and just swapped it over. You can pump 13.5v into the beresford with it and you get a nice bass boost but personally I prefer it at 12v, the 7510 benefited from the added volts more so.

Beat me to it!

I had a chat with Brent, nice guy, he told me about the other ops and that they offer better timing and dynamics. He thinks the most expensive upgrade is equivalent to a £1500+ cd player.

Thanks for replies guys.

Yes I`m after opamps only and probably gonna do MLC5/6 mod also and that should be what i`m looking for judging by what i read around.

Cheers all

Sorry Pete. I probably got the wrong impression from your initial reply.

I thought the OP who - like me - has no soldering skills, asked for confirmation of whether the LM4562NA was the correct 'drop-in' opamp for his Beresford TC-7520 (it is) and was being directed instead to an expensive Burson opamp upgrade for a DacMagic (that won't fit a Beresford).

I am not a mind reader and could not guess at any further mods the OP might later say he wants or that by mentioning your £155 DacMagic upgrade you were actually answering what was a very specific LM4562NA/Beresford TC-7520 question.

The Burson's are certainly expensive compared to other opamps and only just fit in the DacMagic with an adaptor.

If you look at the upgrades AudioUpgrades offer for the Beresford, then you'll know what fits and works, and you can buy what your budget allows from their DIY section.
