I am waivering over whether to replace my PS3 (Phat) with a stand alone Blu Ray Player. Can anybody with direct experience of a BDP-S370 please answer a couple of questions:
1. I know that it is supposed to play MKV files BUT can it also play the type produced by MKV2VOB for playing on a PS3. As I understand it, MKV2VOB takes the original MKV and converts it to a MPG file which can be read by the PS3 (or, more correctly, puts the audio and video into a different 'container' compatible with the PS3). As most will probably know, MKV2VOB also crucially retains both the HD video and 5.1 audio where it is present on the original file.
2. Assuming the use of the correct disk format (ie. FAT32), can you delete files from the USB Hard Disk Drive once watched. This is another really usefulof the PS3 that I would be reluctant to give up.
Sorry to ask but I have not been able to find one set up in a store to simply plug a USB drive into and see for myself and a quick search on the net didn't produce any answers.
The question of whether the BDP-S370 is a worthy replacement for a PS3 has also been discussed elsewhere but any further thoughts would be appreciated.
