Hello all,

I have a Quad 99 CD/Pre-Amp that is about 10 years old.

It has always made a clicking noise on start up which i assume is a laser cleaning process.

In the last few weeks this noise has increased in length from it's normal two seconds to six seconds.

Everything still works fine. Any ideas as to what this may be.

Thanks,

Dave

My CDP is making a clicking noise on start up too , If everything else is normal once playing CDs I wouldn't be worry about it .

It could be the grease in the CD mechanism drying out causing problems. It wouldn't hurt to have it serviced.

Thanks for reply.

Mine has always made this noise too but i was more concerned that it has started increasing and now up to six seconds.

Have contacted Quad who said that it sounds like something going wrong and to return it for an overall for £49 plus vat plus parts so not too bad but it works fine once the noise stops so will wait and see.

Thanks again

Dave
