Hello fellow music lovers.

Opinions/recommendations required for a suitable upgrade from the above cable. I am reasonably pleased with the performance of the above cable but it tends to emphasis the brightness of the system that it is used in. I'm looking for a cable that's less bright, smooth but equally detailed and of course does not cost the earth!
System:
Marantz CD63 KI Signature
Marantz PM66 KI Signature
Monitor Audio RS5
Kimber Cable PBJ interconnects

All recommendations would be most appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi!

Are you able to get Belden cable at your country? If you can, try Belden 1313A which is s thick copper cable. This copper cable should be able to tame the brightness.

Hi,

Yes Kimber 4tc or 8tc is a major upgrade - I use Kimber 8tc and 4tc. I had the QED the kimber is much more balanced tonally, much better soundstaging, more natural and open. It significantly more expensive too. The kimber 4vs is good too but cheaper. Try the chord silverscreen - its a step up from the QED but not much more expensive than it.

Cheers,

Steve

Hello,

Actually I have the same cable as you do, the QED Silver Anniversary (Biwired) and I'm changing for the ATLAS HYPER 3.0, which is excelent and natural, check the information at their website and all around the internet and you will see it's the best option.

Greetings - J.Costa

When it comes to cables I'm a big fan of Chord Company products. I've had Silver Anni Biwire in the past, but my current single runs of Rumour 2 leave it for dead, with a much more balanced and musical sound.

i was looking at the 4tc and 8tc cables by russ andrews , but felt they were a little pricey , so i got some chord odessey , although this may not help the brightness side of things.

though one person on here said it helped make his system sound warmer so im giving it a try to see if it helps my slightly bright system , very well built cable also

Hi sorry dont mean to hijack your thread but was about to post something similar as i want to change my Qed silver anniversary bi wire. I had looked at the kimber too but seemed a bit pricey to me even second hand! I cant see why not but is it ok to leave the qed in one and another cable in the other speaker do some comparison? Anything anyone else would recommend, would be for my GS20s. Thanks

Try Chord Rumour 2. Works extremely well with Chameleon Silver +.

not sure about that , but dont forget any new cable you try out would need a certain amount of run-in time , and chord cables need time to run-in

Would I be right in assuming that cables with copper conductors such as van den Hull's CS122 and Chord Company's Carnival Silverscreen may lessen the brightness as I've noted that the QED Silver Anniversay has silver conductors?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree!

Thanks.

people say that silver coated speaker cable can bring the brightness out of your system , and that copper will carm things down ?, i have this problem also , someone suggested to me the chord odessey 2 stuff , although its a silver coated cable.

im going to try it soon and see if it helped , i will report back

If you can't stretch to the Kimber go for Atlas Hyper 2.0 or 3.0 it's very good.

Hi again,

Hey I adivsed Atlas Hyper 3.0 and no one commented on that, only Jules adivised the same, seems that Atlas are the BEST around considering their price range...

Jules: Have you got Atlas cables? which ones? and your system is? This might help our friend to decide about the best cables
