QED Performance HDMI 10m

Hi all,

I have been planning a move of all of my av equipment about 8-9 meters away from my tv and i had chosen the QED Performance HDMI 10M cable, i just got off the phone to hifi cables to see if they stock it and they advised me that they no longer stock lengths over 7m due to the cable not being able to send a 1080p signal. is this true? if it is what cable can provide 1080p over this length. i didnt really want to spend over £150 but if i must then i must.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is absolutely no need to spend that kind of money on a 10m cable.

Yes, you will want superior build quality to compensate for the long distance, but the ones found at the following link will do the job perfectly for £52.99

HDMI can be a bit of a lottery over long distances but my advice would be to go with a retailer/brand that can guarantee their cables. There are plenty out there that do e.g. MarkGrant (tests all cables before dispatch), hdcable, ukhdmi (as mentioned above), bettercables (US brand - bought mine from tmfsolutions.co.uk), bluejeanscables. The bluejeanscables has the best hdmi resource I'm come across on the web which should answer any of your questions.

£20 for 10m. All you need to spend. If it doesn't work send it back as not fit for purpose ("All our cables are capable of at least 1080p" says the page).

If that doesn't work, or you need longer distances, then one of their extenders for £40 plus a pair of 1m cables at £4.80 is less than £50. (You also need a pair of CAT5 cables. Their 20m's are about £10 each but you can probably find someone, or your work IT department, to make you up some for the price of a beer)

Check how long your cable really needs to be as well - if you can get away with 7.5m then go with that. I've been running a cheap (£16 from Amazon) 7.5m cable for the last 18 months without any issues at all.

Hi, i dont use the QED stuff mainly because of the price also.

Have you tried http://www.hdcable.co.uk/ or you can alternatively ring their number on 08443510190 with free shipping too & no fancy packaging. I've used them with all my kit & never had a problem. They do loads of different lengths & thier pro range is supposed to support up to 1080p over 15 metres which should cover your requirements.

Thanks to all that replied, i ended up buying a 10m cable from thatcable.com fingers crossed it will be ok, im sure it will.
