Q Acoustics 3020...just put on PC desk?

Just ordered a set of 3020's and was wondering if anyone else has these in a desk top system and whether you just plunked them down on the desk or used some kind of riser or blue tac? These will be going on a glass desk. Hope they sound as good as all the reviews say as i have gone through many pairs of speakers trying to find "The One". 🙂

Well only you can tell if it works for you. You already bought them, so...

I would've went for active monitors, something like Adam A5x, + a cheap audio interface for easier volume control.

You'll need a big desk, as they're very deep. Suggest you experiment, but I've seen various products recommended here for desktop monitors, but you'd need to check sizing. I hope you have a decent analogue output from your PC, or do you also have a separate amp?

Most desks will be too narrow. Then there's an issue of reflections from glass. And another issue of whether the height is right for your listening position. Also if you intend to sit at the desk and listen from said speakers it'll be important to know how they do at low volume levels, which I do not.

Not an ideal scenario in any case. If possible I'd avoid doing this.

Also it looks like you've never heard them which is not what anyone here would suggest.

Genuinely hope you do like them and that they work for you. I really disliked them and still don't know how they got 5 stars. But that only proves why it's important to demo and how subjective this hobby is.

Certainly not ideal for a desktop set-up. I would be interested to find out how OP is going to power them. As he has already ordered them my comments are probably irrelevant. Should image the angled foam type risers will be necessary though, something like Audioengine DS2.

I'd just stack some books to bring the middle point between the tweeter and woofer at ear height. Also flipping the speakers with woofers up / tweeters down sometimes helps with less bass boom reflections from the desk.

Saw them at Thoman going for 150 quid. For ~70 they are the best option, no doubt.

I had a pair of Audioengine DS1 stands with my little Seiwins, they worked well. The DS2s are bigger but might not be big enough for the 3020s, maybe not be that stable. These are DS2s.
