Projector Problem

My Vivitek HK 2288 keeps shutting off after a few minutes of operation. Because it was still under warranty, I contacted the manufacturer and explained the blinking light pattern, and they recommended that I replace the lamp (not under warranty). The strange thing is that when I take the projector down from the ceiling and place it on a table, the problem goes away. Do you think I should get a new lamp or should I look into something else?

Clean all the filters and vents and make sure none are impeded when mounted on the ceiling before changing the lamp.
