Hey

I just bought a HP DM1 notebook and it has a HDMI in it, and looks like it does everything, hd audio and hd graphics ,even though its not the best.

Can I just plug this into my amp and play all files from it, or does it not work like that, and would have to go into my TV.

I want it do play through my speakers, and want to play any file that would be on the laptop.

Thanks so much

Amp SC-LX72

Looks like it should work - from the manual:

1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the computer.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the video device, according to the device manufacturer's instructions.
3. Press fn+f2 on the computer to switch the image between the display devices connected to the computer.

For audio, it gives these instructions:

1. Right-click the Speakers icon in the notification area, at far right of the taskbar, and then click Playback devices.
2. On the Playback tab, click either Digital Output or Digital Output Device (HDMI).
3. Click Set Default, and then click OK.

To return audio to the computer speakers, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the Speakers icon in the notification area, at far right of the taskbar, and then click Playback devices.
2. On the Playback tab, click Speakers.
3. Click Set Default, and then click OK.
