Hello all, I've had my technics stereo for a few years now, no problems at all:

http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/hifi-system/technics-sc-hd560/details/

I have just upgraded the speakers to Q Acoustics 1030 http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/2852

I have set them up, and they work fine at a very low volume level but as soon as the volume goes above 52DB the speakers just stop working (the CD is staill playing).

Can anyone please shed some light on this? I'm really frustrated!

Thanks

Sounds like clipping.Not good.When you say 52db, if the volume dial was a clock face, where is 52db? 10 o'clock? 11 o'clock?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The volume dial does not have a mark or guage so it's hard to tell, but I would say if I start with the volume right down to zero db, it takes about 1/6th of a turn of the button before it cuts out.

I should add, with the old speakers connected just a few days ago the unit worked fine and the speakers didn't cut out (they were the original technics speakers that came with the unit).

If it was working fine on other speakers it looks like the amplifier might not like the lowish 3.6 ohm minimum impedance of the new speakers.

How do I get to speakers working fully? Must I buy another amp for the system?
