Hi, Could anyone help me as i am about to set up a new system and i am new to all this HDMI technology.

I am about to set up a Panasonic 37V10 LCD tv and i am not sure what HDMI / Optical cables to buy and how many, and the best way to set up this system.

The system is as follows:

Panasonic 37V10 LCD

Panasonic SC-BT200 home cinema

Panasonic DMR-EX98V-K VHS DVD Recorder

Sky + (but maybe going to Sky +HD)

Also could anyone tell me how long the speaker cables are on the Panasonic SC-BT200 home cinema.

Please Help

Many Thanks

Hi, I would connect it as follows:

SC-BT200 to TV via HDMI

DMR-EX98V-K to TV via HDMI

Sky+ to TV via (TV) SCART (set to RGB/16:9/SCART Control On in picture settings)

Sky+ to DMR-EX87V-K via (VCR) SCART for achiving

and for audio....

DMR-EX98V-K to SC-BT200 via optical (set to bitstream)

Sky+ to SC-BT200 via optical (set to DOLBY D under optical output in sound settings)

I wouldn't bother connecting an audio cable from the TV to the SC-BT200 as Sky+ (and HD) has twin tuners and I would imagine the bulk of your TV viewing will be via Sky as opposed to Freeview.

I read in another recent post that the speaker cables in the SC-BT200 are 8m but check with Panasonic or a local dealer to confirm.
