Can someone please help - a What HiFi? S&V staffer, maybe? - I urgently need to write to the MD, or equivalent, of AV retailer Sound and Vision (soundandvision.co.uk).

Does anyone know his/her name?

Tried phoning Sound and Vision to ask for the name but whoever answered was most evasive, although perhaps he assumed that I was trying to sell 'em something?

Thanks

No need to know the name, just address it to the Managing Director. I assume by the tone of your request that it is a complaint, so send the letter recorded delivery, then they cant deny receiving it.

You could try the companies house web site for a list of the directors, the registered office, and the company reg. number.

Soundandvision (and now HiFiBitz) are owned by VBA Ltd. of Bolton, which uses these as trading names - i.e. VBA Ltd. T/A Soundandvision. If you're going to complain, I basically agree with chudleighpaul, send the letter recorded delivery, address to the Customer Services and copy the MD, as they have a published complaints procedure, you should try to follow this.

If its not a complaint, then go on the web (or to companies house) and search for directors of VBA Ltd, I'm sure you'll get the names if you need them.

As a matter of interest their accounts are overdue.

Very odd, sound and vison are well known for the good service. Has something changed recently?

Many thanks for info/advice, folks.

I've not had a problem with Sound and Vision per se - its 2 delivery fellas, for example, were very courteous & helpful - but the Pana plasma that I bought from S&V has developed a major fault (after only 30 months).

Trading Standards advised that it's best to address letters to a named director, as opposed to 'the managing director' etc.

Thanks again.

chudleighpaul:2 of the directors are a Neil Ball and Simon Clarke, although I don't know which is MD.

Neil Ball is listed as the Marketing Director. I believe there are only the two director / owners, so no real call for an MD...
