HI there, Have a Samsung 49" 4k TV. Want to send audio to my valve driven external amp. Doesn't seem to work. Tries a cable into the headphone socket, but obviously this cuts the sound to the TV speakers so can't be left in. Is there a switchable solution to this which leaves the TV speakers on unless switched off??

To switch automatically upon powering up it would need to be hdmi or Bluetooth. You could buy a blutooth dongle or a cheap surround amp on eBay to act as a hdmi source hub for your amp.

if you have a dac, you can go from optical out on the tv. You would just need to go in to the sound options on your tv and switch from digital out to tv speakers whenever you want to switch. If you dont have a dac you could just get a £30 behringer jobbie off amazon, should be better than headphone socket.

Thx Paul

Even if I connect R + L output from TV direct to amp still nothing. I can switch it from TV speakers to external in the setup menu but still nowt.

Any ideas?

Assuming it's the same as my old tv, the red and white phono is input only, and only works with the component/composite inputs.

generaly the external speaker mode just means internal speakers disabled.
