HI, I JUST BOUGHT A PANASONIC V10 PLASMA AND ONLY WATCHED FOR ABOUT 5-6 HOURS. IVE BEEN WATCHING IT ON THX MODE WHICH DOESNT LET YOU ADJUST CONTRAST OR BRIGHTNESS, IS THIS OK FOR THE BREAKING IN PERIOD (AND BEYOND), OR SHOULD I PUT IT ON SOME OTHER SETTING AND TURN DOWN BOTH THESE, AND IF SO TO WHAT LEVEL? ANY ADVICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED, THANKS!

i think thx mode would be fine for breaking in , i put a thx optimisor disc on my ps3 , and after calibrating my panny plasma the settings were very close to the , cinema , setting on the tv , which has the contrast set at just over halfway , just avoid the dynamic , normal , setting , as the contrast is whacked up ...

OK, THANKS. IT MAKES SENSE, THX IS DESIGNED ( I THINK) TO LOOK REALLY GOOD STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, IT WOULD BE STRANGE IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SETTING AND CUSTOMISE IT YOURSELF TO AVOID DAMAGING THE SET. IT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING IN THE MANUAL ABOUT BREAKING IN PERIODS, SO I ONLY KNOW ABOUT IT FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, BUT DON'T YOU THINK THAT IF THIS WERE NECESSARY, PANASONIC WOULD HAVE INCLUDED AN INBUILT SETTING TO BE USED AS DEFAULT FOR THE FITST 100 HOURS?

screen burn is rare on the latest models , you would have to have the contrast turned up high and leave a static image on the screen for ages to cause it , even then it may not happen , id say just avoid that and dont worry about it , nice tv by the way ...

ive been watching movies with the black bars from day one on my plasma , no problems , you can see a little image retention on a blank screen afterwards , but it goes away quickly ..
