My last question on the subject. I just want to put this one to bed as it is the last thing troubling me before buying the excellent Pioneer 4280XD.

If you put the Pioneer 4280XD next to the Sony 40W4000 and played a blu ray disc on both, how much detail will be missing on the Pioneer? I don't mean in theory, but in practice is there much difference when sitting 6-7ft away. Do you really notice that fact that the Pioneer is only HD Ready or is the scaling that good. I have seen SD and component and think the Pionner is amazing but it is the HD Ready thing that is holding me back... My viewing will be a mix of SD, DVD, and Blu-ray.

I am asking as the only place near me with them in stock cannot play me an HD source - only component. Mentioning no names - Comet, so I am having to trust the judgement and recommendations here fully.

Thanks for your patience with all my questions.

Want my opinion??
Just buy it. You will not regret buying the pioneer. I have actually just bought a 7g pio and am totally blown away by it. HD looks amazing-more natural and more everything than lcd. stop worrying and go out and get it. Then sit back and love it!!!

I have no regrets at all. ÿMOST of the HD programmes available via my new Sky box are also awesome. ÿI think that the one which shows off the Kuro's ability with contrast and colour best is 'The Tudors' - also available via Freesat, of course.

I bought the Kuro 4280XD. I am not disappointed. I would be surprised if it could be improved upon (except by another Kuro).
