They state that it doesn't have 7.1 analogue outputs, but everywhere else you read about the player and watch pictures of it back there are multi channel analogue outputs.

What that all about??? Is the European version a "lesser" model?

Well, I don't see any - do you???

And BTW thanks for editing down from your original title...

Pioneer BDP-320 - did WH actually review the player?????
to which the answer is "yes, we did".

d4v3pum4:Euro model lacks m/chan analogue out (as does LX52). Check pioneer.co.uk site for details.

So you're saying if I weren't in Europe I could buy the 320 with multi-channel outputs instead of sitting around waiting for Pioneer to release the rest of the range AND having to spend a lot more money into the bargain?

That's really irritating, so much so it might actually make me buy a different brand now...

It would appear so, looking at the spec's on pioneer's US site, though the rear panel image they're using on that site appear's to be the european model......

This is why I quickly discounted any Pioneer player if and when I choose to upgrade from my PS3. The current crop of Japanese players still take an age to load up. I'm waiting to hear what the new Denons are like but from what I've read, they're no better. Might have to be an Oppo....

"Well, I don't see any - do you???"

I always find your answers a bit harsh and condescending.

This is the rear of the player I have seen in other reviews:

It seems odd to me why Pioneer have chosen to give the europeans a lesser model.

On the other hand it is feasible that the UK version will sound better as it will not have the interference to the HDMI output created by the analogue outputs. Hmmm.

There is still analog stereo ouputs.

I was only responding in the spirit of your original 'Did you actually test the product?' post, which of course you later edited.

I know my original Subject was a bit harsh thats why I edited it immediatly.

Do you have any idea why the EU version is a lesser model? Is it even beneficial to Pioneer to make different versions. My guess would be that it is cheaper to produce more of the same model instead of differentiating them for different markets.

Or to force people like myself further up the range to pay more. Although that might have backfired now.

I will still get the amp from Pioneer, because I want the auto switch off/on when the TV is on or off (which is also a Pioneer), but I did kind of want the Pioneer BD player as well, if only for the Kuro link and the PQLS, whoever I might see if I can live without that now.

Having said all that I'd be willing to bet that Pioneer aren't alone in doing this kind of thing, I think even the legendary Oppo have been known to do that in the past.

The Oppo-is-God Squad will be along in the moment, with their basket of stones....

They probably wont even notice, the thread title doesn't have the word 'oppo' in it.

Andrew Everard:Though TBH I get the feeling the OppofanboiT may have defected elsewhere...

DIRTY BOI!

Oh, I see, defected, not defeca... never mind.

Well that's a bonus at any rate.
