Question Pioneer BDP-180 Issue, I’d like it fixed or anybody help?

Just bought myself a Panasonic UB820 4K Blu Ray Player which I’m over the moon with

I’ve still kept my Pioneer BDP-180 Blu Ray player because it plays my SACD’s, picture and sound are fine on it, bought it in February 2016, I’m now having issues with the Pioneers disc tray opening and closing when pressing the open close button on the remote control and also when I press the button on the front, you press it to open or close and it occasionally works then doesn’t work for hours! you have to turn the machine on and off then again it may or may not work 🙄 I have to push the tray in myself, I’d like to get it fixed or does anyone know what this issue could be ??

Assuming you are in the UK (?) then I can recommend Mike Pickwell who is based in Sheffield. He's on Pink Fish Media as MikeP.

He rebuilt my Leak to an incredibly high standard and often posts about CD player rebuilds.

It sounds like the belt may need replacing.

It might be worth watching this YouTube video about how to replace a belt in a CD player. DVD/BR should be the same. Whilst there will some differences with how your looks internally the principles are the same.

Disclaimer, I've not done this myself before, but it does look easy enough to do.

It might just need some lubrication as it tends to dry out over time, thus causing it to stick, either way it shouldn't be a difficult fix.

Guys, I’ve bought a belt for it from Germany, but I’ll need to get someone local to Oxfordshire to fit it, I’m in no way competent enough to start taking electronics apart because I’ll end up throwing it through a window in a temper 😂 I’ve been there!
