I originally bought the PDP-LX5090 in March since then I have had 1 set replaced, now the other 5090 has developed problems. They have offered to try and resolve the issue and send a Engineer out but after paying £2100 for this Set, I can't be bothered with more hassle. So am I able to ask for a exchange towards something else ar RS?

id expect a credit note at the least , if not a full refund , but , what do you replace it with ??

That would mean downgrading from a 50" TV to a 40". The latest What Hi-Fi awards issue has some interesting contenders at 50".

Had an audition of the the Panasonic 50" V10 and one was rather impressed. Also liked the Philips 46pfl9704H but that is £2500 and hard to find at the moment.

All very well, but one assumes the OP bought a 50in set for a reason; otherwise I guess he would have bought a 42in Kuro...
Perhaps he wanted a 1080p pioneer plasma and that's why he went for the 50 inch, because the 42 inch would not do 1080p.
