Pioneer 428XG vs Panasonic TH-42PV7

Hi

price of pioneer 428XG is almost double that of panasonic TH-42PV7.

most of my viewing is is DTH tv ,no games no dvd's nor any blue-ray's.

so will it be worth spending that much extra on pioneer plasma

Hi, We dont have these models in the UK. But the Pioneer is generally recognised as the best 42" plasma.

Whether it is twice as good, only you can make that judgement. It is also being discontinued. There will not be another 42" Pioneer plasma replacement. So if you want it, buy it soon.

Yes, agree with rewerb. It is like asking whether it is worth buying a BMW for twice or even 3 times the price of a Toyota. Yes, the BMW might be better but twice or 3 times better?

The reviews have all raved about the Pioneer and I'm getting one myself after comparing it versus the other brands/models. In fact, I compared it versus the Sony X Series 46 inch and discovered that it was "better" and cheaper as well.

I think if you're OK with the Panasonic, then go for it and spend the saved cash on something else . . . or invest the money somewhere else.

The TH-42PV7 is the same as the PX model in the UK, I believe. Depends on your budget, as others have said. Why not get a demo of both to help you make up your mind whether you're happy to pay the extra for the Pioneer...

I think the Pioneer 428XG can also be compared versus the top of the line Panasonic 800 series.
