hi just having purchased this tv does anyone know what the best settings are for this tv always had plasma so dont really know what the best settings are for this tv

There isn't a 'best' setting for any TV. What you can ensure is that your TV is calibrated in a way that will optimise it's performance in your own living room - the settings for each room will vary according to lighting conditions etc.
You could use the THX Optimiser to do this or if you want something that is more detailed, try the Spears & Munsil Calibration Disc.

At the risk of repeating myself you will need a calibration disc of some kind to get the picture set up correctly. THX is the most common and easily available but plenty of other calibration discs are out there just google it! You have to remember that everyone watches the tv in vastly different rooms with very different lighting therefore any 'settings' available elsewhere will be of little use to you...you have to calibrate the tv for your particular viewing conditions or just stick with the preset settings. To get the most out of your tv though you will need to calibrate it, there is no getting away from that i'm afraid
