Hi Thanks for the advice, I will go in to local seven oaks, they have one on display so I will have a good look at it and check for any green ting, I will also make sure if the problem appears later I can get a repair or refund. After 7 years of having different models of Panasonic plasmas I never had a problem with them at all, I still have a PZ800 for my sons xbox and still going strong, so wish me luck.

Best of luck to you then.

I'm sure a friendly chat to your local Sevenoaks will allay your fears and provide some reassurance, let me know how you get on. I'm very happy with my GT30 and i'm so glad i bought it as it's a lovely tv and i'm sure that if you buy a VT30 you will be very happy with it even if you have to get it updated.

hi oldboy beleive it or not my gt30 developed the green tinge and fluctuating brightness i read on these forums panasonic had a software update for this problem so i contacted panasonic and within 4 days a service engineer came out and performed the upgrade and touch wood has fixed both problems:cheer:

That's great news.

Considering how unlucky you have been with tvs it's heartening to hear the issue was solved so quickly. Just out of interest did you watch the engineer perform the update? Just wondering what the procedure is for this update, sorry if i seem nosy i'm just wondering exactly why the update is not applied in the normal firmware manner.

At least we now know that one person at least has had the issue solved by the update and that's helpful to everyone who reads this thread, including me...got my fingers crossed my GT30 doesn't develop the fault but at least i know there is hope if it does.

hi oldboy yes did watch the update panasonic had sent the update to this local authorised panasonic service centre on a sd card so he just put it into the sd card slot on my tv update took about 10 minutes to load onto tv and it has solved the issue on my tv so hopefully anyone who has a vt or gt with this issue should be able to get it resolved i was optamistic it would work but it did and i was also impressed with the speed that panasonic solved my issue regards andrew

Thinking about getting the 50st30 does this also suffer from the green tinge and fluctuating brightness change.Ive read that when changing channel the picture becomes brighter for about a second, also does this model need an engineer update should i experience these problems.

Great news Andrew and many thanks for the info!

Panasonic have reacted well to this issue and i can only add my voice to the positive comments going their way, on this occasion they have done a great job of reacting to customers concerns. I've never had any issues with Panasonic and their customer service but i know they have taken a bit of beating on here at times but kudos must go to them over this issue imo.

lobby,

As far as i'm aware the tinge issue affects all models in Panasonics 2011 range but seems especially prevelant in the VT30 and GT30 models, or at least that's what has been reported here, either way the news that a fix is out there that is both quick and easy to install by an engineer can only be good news and i wouldn't worry too much and purchase the tv if thats the one you want to go for. You shouldn't have to wait long to get the issue corrected if you are unlucky enough to get a set that is affected, hope that helps.

Yes that does help me a little as i was unsure as the st30 hasn't had a mention.Whishi went for it when it was only £599, but with redecoration and finding the right solid wood cabinet to match my furniture took up most of my time.I will go for a demo may even go up the gt or vt if im happy with the service and warranty.Did st30 also get five stars?.Many thanks

I don't think the ST30 has had a review in WHF so i couldn't really comment on that tv but what i would say is that the G30 got 4 stars so i would anticipate a similar level of performance but with a lower spec to that tv, if you could stretch to it i would recommend the GT30 as the model to go for as you won't regret it.

The price of the GT30 has come down alot since i bought mine (i paid £1000) and i've seen it for £749 on the net from several retailers so for the extra outlay i would say the GT30 or even VT30 would fully justify the extra cash, my only concern with the ST30 is that it's towards the budget end of Panasonics 2011 range and you may end up disappointed.

You really do need to go for a demo and judge for yourself as it's the only way to be sure of the tv you want, i would never buy a tv without seeing it in action first and it's a wise course of action plus you can normally get a good warranty included. I paid 10% of the price of the tv at Richer Sounds for a 5 year warranty, it's peice of mind if nothing else.

The PanasonicTX-P50ST30 gets the full five stars in the December 2011 magazine.

Rating: *****

For: Strong performance in every area bar sound; The price/screen ratio is good.

Against; Robust competition from within the family, not the most handsome device.

Verdict; Impeccable big-screen performance at an eye catching price .... at the time it was £950.00 and can now be had for £629.95 or £699.95 with two pairs of 3D glasses.

Panasonic's own packages have fared well in tests; there's also the advantage of being able to control TV and system from one remote. And you can hopefully haggle for a bundle deal....

Hi Oldboy

Got vt30 last Wednesday and all seems well, no faults at all. Just going to let it run in for a few months, have all the settings bellow 50 percent on normal mode.

I do have a spears and munsil blu ray disc which I have used on my old plasma which I will use after it has run in.

My biggest problem was to get the hdmi cables to reach, as my tv is on the wall I needed 3.5 mt length but my cables were all 3mts and no one seems to make 4mt length, just for now I have used some hdmi couplers and add anther metre, the picture quality has not been effected.

So thanks for your advice.

Just avoid buying from Cables UK. They've got terrible reviews online.

Great news!

Good to hear you are happy with the tv and not experienced any issues, it's great that you have the spears and munsil disc for calibration. Have you used it before getting the VT30? Just curious as to how you found it as i don't know anyone who has used it before so any views would be good to hear.

4 metre hdmi cables are out there but you will have to search for them, thankfully bigboss has done the work for you (top man! ) so just follow his links and advice.

Happy viewing and hope the tv serves you for years to come :)

Hi

First thanks big boss for your advice on the cables, some of the ones from amazon look good not to expensive.

The spears and munsil disc is pretty good for contrast, brightness and sharpness but when is gets to the coloured squares I start to get a bit lost, but just using it for basics makes a big difference :)
