Many thanks.

Haven't had the 42 'V' in yet, I'm afraid, but we've tested the TX-P42 'G' and 'X' series models so far. Got the TX-L37S10 LCD and TX-32LX10 LCDs in the June issue, out May 8th.

Saw it on the Panasonic stand at The Gadget Show last weekend. I have to say it doesn't look as good as the photos suggest. The picture wasn't great either, with lots of noise compared to the Z1 they had round the corner. Of course that could be down to the source or the setup (although you'd expect Panasonic to take the time and trouble set it up properly).ÿ

Really??? Thats a shame because ive had high hopes for the 50" V10; i was hoping it would give the pioneer 5090 a run for its money; looks like ill have to save up a bit more then for the pioneer!

I know everyone raves about Panasonic Plasma's (and this is what has made me consider buying one), but if im honest, in my opinion, everytime I look at one in the likes of Currys and Comet the picture looks pretty average. But saying that, I have never owned one and this could be due to the signal / reception fed in to the TV. I'll still wait for the V10 to be released and judge for myself however

im going to still wait for it, by the time I come of my hols in a few weeks it should be released, gives me time to build my fake wall etc :D

Failing that a 5090 was my first choice until Pioneer said they were pulling out so I didnt want to risk having a product with potentially no support. Failing that may try to have a look at the LG60PS7000

A friend of mine who works for Pioneer has told me that the more expensive Panasonic V range will be very close to the Pioneer Kuro range in terms of performance. Pioneer has passed on a lot of the technology that was in the Kuro sets to Panasonic. I would get a good dem of the new V range from a dealer who can send it a good source ie. not Curry's!

Hope that helps,

Dan

Is the 60" LG any good do you know? Or are we better off going for quality rather than quantity and holding out for either the V10 or go for the 5090

Hi!

Funny, I read a post from some dealer who had a close connection with a Panasonic specialist who apparently told him that although the 2009 Panny's have made a great stride in performance this year, that they are still a long way away from a G9 Kuro and estimated that it will be at least a couple of years before they can hope to match it considering their business models. I realise this is all hearsay but I think in a dark room environment, a G9 Kuro would murder any of the new Panny's including the V10's with regards to black levels. Also, from what I have read so far is the the new Panny's are very weak on SD& Freeview stuff which the G9 Kuro's excel at - probably far better than anything else out there or in the pipeline based on past and present indicators!
