Just trying out a borrowed tx-26lxd50 and comparing it to my existing Sony Trinitron CRT to see whether I'm going to get a better picture if I get an LCD. Results are mixed (blacks are not as good on the LCD, but picture is much sharper, but I haven't spent any time playing with the settings) so I was just wondering how a tx-26lxd70 or tx-32lxd700 will compare with the tx-26lxd50 I am trying. I'm performing a slighty unfair comparison due to not being able to plug the same source into both, so I'm viewing Sky on my CRT and the builtin digital tuner on the LCD.

Have things moved on markedly since the lxd50?

I think yes is the answer! Panny have gone through two panel technology cycles since the 50 range (60 and now the 70/700).

The 70/700 models have the V-Real 2 engine and 100mhz picture processing. They should be much better from what i've read and seen.
