Had a look at a newish 4K Oled running in Argos last week, not a top of the range - running the space UHD Blu Ray.

Instantly you can see how crisp the image is with the 4k Resolution and pixel by pixel illumination of the OLED. Plasma doesnt compete with that at all.

However after looking at a couple of OLEDs now and my Dads ZT - the ZT is still very good because of how crisp they got the image with the bonding process.

The big difference is with the content UHD Content is far superior to Blu Ray and the newer sets give you access to that and therefore no comparison there.

I had Moana BD and Passenegers 4K UHD on yesterday - I Love Moana but it doesnt hold up to being blown up large same as Passengers did. Its like BD vs DVD comparing the 2, it honestly is. Passengers looked amazing, Moana looked average surprisingly for a cartoon film

Yes, depends on viewing habits and how much 4K you're going to watch on TV. In my case, I'm never going to watch movies on TV.....that's only for projector use. So the first equipment to go 4K will be my projector, when the prices come down to sensible levels for true 4K.

Thats a good plann BB be patient as long as you can, might be a while yet. - The Sony VW320 would work well for you because you dont need to change picture ratio. Not sure how much they are? Seems like the faux 4K JVC's are most popular because of their contrast ratios.

Actually comparing the 2 TV's I think if you got used to looking at 4K oled you would probably think 1080p plasma looks too soft by comparison. How you aclimitise to certain habits

I'm sticking with my VT for a couple of more years until the whole 4K thing has settled down more..

im concentrating on getting the sound right and investing in a more robust atmos/dtsx setup. I have my x6200 receiver, just need to get some in ceiling speakers installed because the front heights and rears are not as good.

back onto TVs, the new Oleds this year are very tempting though but not enough native content. My VT still blinds the picture quality in 1080p on Netflix compared to my 4K LCD on Netflix in the conservatory.. bluray in 1080p is still very good but I have invested in calibration to squeeze the best out of the VT..

The difference between netflix 4k content and UHD Blu Ray is marked.

4K netflix is not even really Blu Ray Quality when you blow it up large

Yeah it's not a snap on proper bluray 4K.

im happy with Netflix and 1080p bluray on my pdp for now.. I can't really get a projector in as it's not practical.. we will be having an extension built in a couple of years and this will be an oppotunity to do it right as BB and you have done, with a decent OLED as an addition for Tv viewing and a projector for the whole cinematic experience.

Anyone sticking withe their PDP (ST, VT, ZT)and not moving to OLED yet. I know i am until motion etc can match the PDP's?
Motion is already better on Oled TVs and has always been. 4K HDR Oled with Planet Earth 2 4k HDR Blu ray is amazing, it's way ahead of Blu-ray, problem is few if any matched up to Planet Earth 2, just a matter of time I guess.

I have found when you blow planet earth 2 up large it doesnt hold up that well.

Some of the good UHD Movies dont have that problem like deep water horizon. Passengers or lucy for example hacksaw ridge as well.

They look amazing large.

Maybe its because I dont have hdr.

Could be. I have been recommended another 4k Blu ray that's nearly as good as Planet Earth and have pre-ordered it of Amazon.com but I can remember the name of it, I will look it up and post here.

Just skimmed through the PLanet Earth 2 AVF Thread and a few people thought they same as me - some of the shots look like they are taken from the first planet earth and used as filler - when you blow them up large they look pretty turd and that ruins the overall UHD experience for me

So much so I have not even bothered watching it - its been a dissappointment to me overall - anyone want to buy it off me?... :)

I am still hoping to win that WHF comp for one.

Just got Billy Lynn's long halftime walk 4K HDR Blu-ray and it's a corker. HDR is a huge difference.

Sorry Gel, at this point in time believe me it isn't.

You assume that OLEDs are the only alternative to or progression from plasmas. In my case, I don't notice any difference in motion handling between my plasmas and my LCDs, so my next, and last, television purchase will be the Sony 75ZD9, because the LG 77G7, though now less than half of its initial £25K price, is still much too expensive for me.
