Logic dictates that I am wrong but my ears are trying to tell me different.

When playing bluray discs from the Panasonic bd35 the sound is significantly better/more detailed when outputting via PCM rather than bitstream ie getting the bluray player to decode HD sound rather than the Denon 2310.

Is this possible? I have trialled it back and forth through many bluray discs (most notably Ironman and Die Hard 4.0) and I get the same results.

I first noticed this with my KEF 2005.3 and Onkyo 606 but even now I have upgraded to B&W 683s (Fronts) and Denon 2310 the difference is still noticable.

What do you think?

This is highly unlikely, considering the sonic prowess of the Denon 2310. I have tested my BD35 (PCM) against my Onkyo 605 (Bitstream) with Transformers, Die Hard 4.0, Star Trek, Ironman and Terminator Salvation and in all cases, the Onkyo was superior when it came to the HD soundtracks.

So, I'll let the BD35 take care of the picture and the Onkyo, the sound.
