Ortofon - no sound from teh right speaker

Are Ortofon's known to lose signal output from one side. I have no sound out of my left speaker (unless I swap the amp input leads over), dont think its the amp, swapping the leads from the deck into the amp swaps the dead speaker, so pre-amp would seem to be ok. CD plays fine through the amp, so power amp seems ok.

The cartridge is 3 months old, not much groove time.

The Amp is an old Cambridge unit, been great, the deck make/model you dont even want to know about 🙂 Kef Coda speakers.

System resurected after 10 years in the loft but had been playing well since Xmas.

Cartridge back to the shop time??

tell us your make of tt and model no of amp. ortofons are regarded as very good cartridges. which model is it as the 2m red have had a few problems.i will try to help as best i can.regards, gregory.

from your comments i take it that the amp has a built in phono stage. have you checked the contacts from the cartridge to the decks out puts? also the weighting of the arm.
